A well carried head of medium length. Short ears, horns generally short and upright-polled animals are not uncommon. A well-defined thoracic hump. Well-developed hindquarters, well fleshed buttocks and a full, wide muscular rump distinguish Borans from other zebus. The skin is generally black with loose folds and pliable. The coat is smooth and is predominantly white although all colours do occur except for brindle.
A vigorous and alert animal with remarkable walking ability.
